Treatment for depression
You’re not feeling like yourself and that’s tremendously frustrating.
Perhaps there have been specific situations that have not gone your way or you feel like you’ve failed in an important endeavor. It may feel difficult to disengage from frequent bouts of rumination, or you could be experiencing a general sense of stuck-ness. Maybe you’ve noticed a more subtle decline in mood and motivation and you’re looking for more clarity on what’s contributed to the current diminished interest or urges to withdraw. Perhaps it feels impossible to be fully present with the people around you or to remain connected to your experience.
In many ways, I conceptualize anxiety and depression to be on a continuum, with some sufferers spending more time on one end or the other, and others moving between the two poles at different time points. Maybe you’re noticing you cycle between feeling anxious or on edge and down or stuck regularly. We’ll work together to target your specific challenges and continue to adapt strategies and practices as needed.
I believe in examining all domains of life and understanding the key contributors to a lack of balance. We’ll look closely at your daily activities, including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress reduction practices, and social engagement. I frequently utilize behavioral activation techniques and integrate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills in my work with clients suffering from depression. I emphasize regular investment in accessible activities that provide a sense of meaning, contentment, or joy. I prioritize taking incremental steps towards reconnecting with your true self and what makes you feel most present and connected.
When typical activities feel taxing or you find yourself feeling fatigued or distracted throughout the day, it’s particularly difficult to take the step to reach out and ask for help. Maybe it seems like inaction, feelings of dejection, or a sense of loss will persist indefinitely. It’s okay that you’re having difficulty envisioning the pathway forward right now. Let’s begin the process together.
